Oram Miller - Building Biology Environmental Consultant

A business owner for 23 years, Oram Miller launched Environmental Design and Inspection Services in the upper Midwest in 2003. For seven years, Oram Miller helped clients in and around Minneapolis and the upper Midwest improve the living and working environment in their homes and offices. He also co-authored Breathing Walls, a manual detailing a biological approach to healthy building envelope design and construction.

In 2010 Mr. Miller moved to Los Angeles, California and renamed his company as Create Healthy Homes. Since 2010, Mr. Miller advises clients in Southern California and throughout the country with electromagnetic field (EMF) sensitivities and those who want to create a healthier EMF environment in their new or existing homes, apartments, or offices. He has limited his services to evaluating and mitigating electromagnetic fields, or EMFs, and refers clients for services by local colleagues for indoor air quality issues, including mold and chemical outgassing.

In addition to his work as an EMF consultant, Mr. Miller was also an adjunct faculty member and lab lead supervisor for the Electromagnetic Radiation Seminars at the Building Biology Institute from 2014 through 2024. During that time, he contributed to curriculum development and founded the Institute’s Apprenticeship Program to pair students with experienced building biologist in their vicinity. He also served on various committees within the Building Biology Institute and produced and hosted seminars for the Green Home Institute.

As an extension of his EMF consultancy, Mr. Miller has been affiliated with organizations such as the Minnesota Headwaters Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council and served on the Technical Committee of the Minnesota GreenStar certification program, where he co-wrote a healthy electrical wiring protocol covering how to avoid EMFs for green builders of residential and commercial buildings. Mr. Miller also co-organized the Northland Bioneers Conference in Minneapolis in 2009.

Oram Miller holds certifications from the Building Biology Institute, formerly the International Institute for Building Biology and Ecology. He is a certified Electromagnetic Radiation Specialist (EMRS) and a certified Building Biology Environmental Consultant (BBEC). He is based in Los Angeles.
